Route 3D privacy policy

Last updated 18 October 2026. Applies to the Route 3D app and its web version.

The short version. Route 3D needs nothing about you to work. There are no accounts, no ads, no analytics and no tracking. Your scores and settings stay on your device. The only time anything about your play leaves it is the daily scoreboard, which is off until you turn it on, and turning it off again deletes your entries. If the game hits an error, it sends us an anonymous error report so we can fix it (see Diagnostics).

Who we are

Route 3D is made by Dubhog Ramshaw ("we", "us"), who is responsible for the data described here. Questions, or a request to see or delete your data: [email protected].

What stays on your device

The game saves these on your phone (in the app's own storage) or, on the web, in your browser's local storage. We never receive them:

Deleting the app, or clearing the website's data in your browser, removes all of it. The game sets no cookies.

The daily scoreboard (optional)

Off by default. You turn it on in Menu → Settings → Daily scoreboard. While it is on, for each daily route you play (the daily, and Daily EASY):

Who can see it: the scoreboard is public. It shows player names, country flags, times and, on Daily EASY, tries. Your device key and your arrows are never shown.

How long it is kept: until you turn the scoreboard off. From that moment the app sends nothing more, not even for a daily you are in the middle of, and it deletes all your entries and run times from the server straight away (if you are offline, as soon as you are back online). Run times of dailies that were never finished are deleted after two days. If you delete the app or clear your browser before turning it off, the device key that identifies your entries is gone with it. In that case, email us your player name and the days you played, and we will delete them.

Why, and on what basis: to run the scoreboard you chose to join. The legal basis is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time by turning the switch off.

Looking at the scoreboard

The Stats screen loads today's scoreboard from our server, even when your scoreboard switch is off. With it off, the app sends nothing about you, not even the device key. Like any request over the internet, it still reaches our host with your IP address (see below).

Keeping the scoreboard fair

To stop the scoreboard being flooded, the server counts how often each connection uses it each hour. It stores the count under a hash of your IP address (for IPv6, of your network's first half) combined with the hour, not the address itself, and deletes the counts after about two hours, at the next scoreboard request. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in keeping the scoreboard working and fair.

Diagnostics

When the game hits an error, it sends our server an anonymous error report: the error message and where in the game's code it happened, the app version, whether it is the iPhone, Android or web version and its system version, the phone model (such as "iPhone 15 Pro"), the world being played, and the last few game actions (such as "step" or "menu open"). Before sending, the game removes anything in the error text that looks like an email address, a code or a web address's details.

A report contains no name, no device key and nothing you typed, and we do not store your IP address with it. Each report is kept for up to 30 days. A short summary of each kind of error (its message, how often it happened, and when) is kept longer, so we notice if a bug we fixed comes back; it holds nothing about you or your device. We use reports only to fix bugs. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in keeping the game working. To stop the server being flooded, it counts reports per connection per hour, in the same way as for the scoreboard (below).

Our host

The web version and the scoreboard run on Cloudflare (Cloudflare Pages, with the scoreboard database stored in Western Europe). Cloudflare receives every request, including your IP address, to deliver the game and protect it from attacks, under its own privacy policy. The game itself loads no analytics or advertising code: its security settings allow only the game's own files.

What we do not collect

Children

Route 3D is for all ages. It never asks for personal information, player names come only from child-safe word lists, and the scoreboard is off unless it is turned on. A parent who wants a child's scoreboard entries removed can turn the switch off, or email us.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in the EU and the UK), you have the right to see the data we hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, object to its use, and withdraw your consent. Email us to do any of these. We only know a device by its hashed key, so we may ask for your player name and the days you played to find your entries. You can also complain to your data protection authority.

Changes

If what the game collects changes, this page changes first, with a new date at the top.
